I forgot that I never posted this… anyway.. here is a recap of our Disney trip!
Where to begin… it was a wonderful week in the Magic Kingdom! Anytime you get your entire family together it will leave good memories… do it in Walt Disney World and it’s down right magical.
We left our home in Lyndhurst on Sunday morning around 6:30am, dropped the car off at Park-n-Fly and was at the airport by 7:15. We grabbed some breakfast after clearing security and made our way down to the gate to wait for our flight. Our flight left on tim and we arrived in Orlando at 10:50, a few minutes early! We met my folks who were kind enough to pick us up and we arrive at Shades of Green a little after 12pm I believe.
The rest of Sunday was spent around the pool until our room was ready. Sunday evening we had dinner at Evergreens, the sports bar on site, with all but my brother and family who were at a different resort and Don and family who weren’t arriving until the next day.
Monday morning arrived with Jenna waking up at 5:45am asking us “Is it time to wake up yet?”… 15 minutes later we were up and getting ready to head to breakfast. Shades of Green doesn’t start transportation to the parks until 8:30 so we had to walk to the Polonysian resort to catch the monorail to make our breakfast at the Contemporary report at 8am.
To quote Peter, the breakfast was “Zero to Disney in nothing flat”.
We were greeting by Donald, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto and the kids quickly swung in to Disney mode getting autographs and posing for pictures. The staff also recognized our wedding anniversary with special placemats and a cupcake each. Breakfast was delicious and after finishing up we headed over to the Magic Kingdom for our first day in the parks.
We walked in to the park just in time to see the opening act on Main Street, which Jenna took in with wide eyes. After that finished, we headed toward the castle to catch the stage show which Jenna loved with the music and dancing… and Mickey and the princesses. We headed over to Fantasyland and we just about to hop in to the Winnie the Pooh ride line when we saw Pooh and Tigger at a character greeting… so we quickly fast passed the ride and hopped in line and met Pooh and Tigger. Afterwards, we used our fast passes and had no wait to get on and ride in Pooh’s honeypot.
During our two days in the Magic Kingdom we also made time to ride Cinderella’s Golden Carousel, Peter Pan’s Flight, It’s a Small World, Alladin’s Carpets, the Tomorrow Land People Mover and the Walt Disney Railroad. We caught Woody’s Cowboy camp (twice) and we waited in line to meet Cinderella and Belle in Mickey’s Toon Town. On Wenesday we stayed for the Spectral Magic parade. I did get a chance to hit some big boy rides when I took Elsie and we took in the Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain.
On Tuesday we headed to EPCOT for the day and we started in The Land with a quick boat ride around their gardens and took in the Circle of Life movie. Then we headed over to Journey into Imagination and the Kodak “What-If?” Labs. Rose ran with Jenna to the The Seas including a chat with Crush while I took in Test Track and Mission: Space with Peter and Dad Murray. The entire crew grabbed lunch at the Rose and Crown and we ended the day with a couple of boat rides in Mexico and Norway as well as Jenna’s first viewing of fireworks as we took in the Illuminations show.
Thursday we went to Animal Kingdom, we were able to get on an early safari and quickly took the train out to the conservation station and affection section. Before we did that however I took a few minutes to jam with some of the Harambe locals with a travelling musician. He was playing an african xylophone so I grabbed a djembe and played along… we drew quite a crowd and it was loads of fun. A quick trip around the Dino-rama and the Tricerotops Spipn and we headed back to the hotel for a big family dinner and after that a small group of us (Rose, my Dad, Elsie and me) headed back to Animal Kingdom to ride Expedition Everest, twice, and it’s safe to say that EE is an amazing roller coaster.
Friday we went to MGM and took in the Voyage of The Little Mermaid, Muppet Vision 3-D, and The Magic of Disney Animation. We also met up with Woddy and Buzz from Toy Story before we had lunch at Pizza Planet. Mom, Rose and I took in the Lights, Motors, Action!™ Extreme Stunt Show while Jenna and dad checked out the “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” Movie Set Adventure and some of the Christmas decorations. At 3pm we found a good spot to take in the parade and them made our way out of the park and headed back to the hotel. Next we headed over to Downtown Disney for some light shopping and dinner. We ended up eating at Planet Hollywood, which was outstanding… Jenna didn’t make it though… she fell asleep amid the noise. After we left PH we wandered down the the World of Disney to buy some shirts, Jenna woke up at this point and had fun trying on some Mickey ears.
