Easter Notes

Posted by mark on 28th March 2005

We headed down south for easter, and although the trip is longer with Jenna in tow because of feedings and changings, everything went well. this was her first night away from home… call is a sleep over I guess. She did well and had no problems adjusting to the new location.

Everyone is doing well and I should be posting some new pictures shortly. If you’d like to have access to our “OFoto” albums so you can buy some prints of the pictures let me know and I’ll share the album with you… either comment this entry or email me.

First Month Milestones

Posted by rose on 22nd March 2005

I can’t believe that Jenna has been with us a full month and how much she has grown already! Because I still had school responsibilities of grade cards and yearbook, I’ve neglected to tell you Jenna’s milestones over the past 4 weeks.

I’ve kept track in a little book so here is a recap!

  • First Day Home – Jenna gave us a “scare” by sleeping 5 hours in the afternoon and another 5 hours again that night. We thought about calling the hospital but what were we going to say? “Our baby is sleeping to much!” This would be the only time she would sleepthat long thus far…
  • First Week – Grandpa Murray dropped Grandma off to help me recover from the C-Section and to be a sounding board for the first baby experiences. We were greatful to have another set of hands so we could take naps and adjust to having Jenna home… not to mention the instant advice when needed.
  • Day 7 – Jenna’s first bath! Well.. sponge bath. Also, Mark proved his brilliance with the invention of the diaper light. A “tap light” he mounted to the changing table which provides perfect light for those late night changings.
  • Day 8 – Jenna had her first doctor visit and all was well!
  • Day 11 – Jenna went on a 3 hour shopping adventure to Michael’s Grand Opening Sale and to Target… we also had our first breast feeding in the car because we didn’t realize we had been out that long!
  • Day 13 – Grandpa, Uncle Peter, Aunt Celeste and Erin came for a visit, and to collect Grandma and take her home.
  • Day 16 – Nana and Grandad Bradbourne came for a week long visit. Again it was nice to have an extra couple of sets of hand to help out and help us continue to adjust to Jenna.
  • Day 17 – We went to our “Lamaze Reunion” and 4 other couple were there with their babies… it was really nice to visit with them and share our stories with each other. This was the first night outing for Jenna… and she did great!
  • Day 20 – Stumpy (Part 1) came off today! We’re excited that full baths are coming soon.
  • Day 22 – I went to a breastfeeding support group hosted by the hospital lactation ladies. It’s a social outlet and informational at the same time. There is a scale so Jenna weighed in at 9 lbs 11oz…that’s an increase of 1lb 10oz!
  • Day 24 - Stumpy (Part 2) is off today. There was a little bit left from the other day and now there’s just a belly button. Also, Mark and I have resolved that we heard Jenna say “hi” as an imitation of Mark saying it to her. Now, it very well could have been a squeek but that just wouldn’t be a cause to brag. :)
  • Day 27 - We graduated to the next diaper size. She kept “blowing out” of her diaper so we figured out that she needed a bit more room in her shorts. Also, the Root Family (Brad, Tara, and 9 month old Emalie) came to visit for the weekend. It was fun to watch Emalie and see what we have in store in the coming months.
  • Today - We celebrated Jenna’s birthday by my going to the breastfeeding group for a weigh in of 10lb 1oz and taking a growth perspective picture with her Bear.

So that about sums up Jenna’s life thus far. I still owe all of you her Birth Story and I’ll try to accomplish that within the next week…between feedings and naps. :) Now, go eat a sweet treat in honor of Jenna surviving living the first month with her parents. :)

“The Bench” – Day 1

Posted by mark on 21st March 2005

I’ve got to run back in to GE tomorrow morning because the moron who was my manager neglectic to tell me that I needed to fill out some GE Paperwork and turn in my badge… but what can I expect from a man who never even told me that my last day would be Friday? Hell, on that Friday he said one word to me… “Ok”

To say he isn’t the greatest communicator ever would be a huge understatement.

Other then that, it’s kind of nice to be back on the bench, although I hope it’s not for long… a nice project that keeps me busy is all I ask. I did some online training today for our “Certificate” program… I tested out of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, Internet Explorer, Databases and a couple of out “core” courses… kind of a joke.

Jenna will be one month old tomorrow! WOW!

New look

Posted by mark on 17th March 2005

I’ve finally landed on a new look for the site… I’m a fan of sunflowers, have been since my grandfather had one that was near 6 foot tall in his garden (at least it seemed that tall to me at the time) so I really like this design.. so much I even passes the design in to the photo gallery as well.

let me know what you think or if you have any problems.

News and Updates

Posted by mark on 9th March 2005

Just thought I’d take a moment and update everyone on things in general.

First off, Jenna is doing great, she is changing everyday… it’s very neat to watch. I’m going to continue to post pictures as frequently as possible so you can all watch as well.

Rose is doing great, a little tired as I am, but that’s to be expected. I would say that she’s near 100% recovered from the C-Section, and she goes to the doctor next week for a check to see that everything is healing well.

I finally got an end date from GE, apparently Friday the 18th of March is my last day, anyone want to start a betting pool on that piece of news?

Emmet (the band) is doing well. I’ve taken a little break from rehearsals the last couple of weeks for obvious reason, but things will pick up again on the 20th I believe as far as rehearsals are concerned. Our next show is the regional semi-finals of the Emergenza Music Festival in April.

Thanks to everyone who has sent gifts and cards, as well as those who have come for a visit to say hello to Jenna… I guess it does take a village :)

That’s all the news for now… Rose is still working on the “Birth Story” and will post it soon I’m sure.

New pictures

Posted by mark on 8th March 2005

I put up a bunch of pictures in the gallery, go check them out… guess who they are of? :)

Also, you see a reference to “The Throne”

The Throne is Jenna’s bouncy seat that for some reason make her have the greatest poops and farts ever….
