Signed Contracts and Notice to the Rental Office – Check!

It’s a done deal! We are now closing on August 8th, taking possession on the 9th I believe. Once we have keys we will be entering the house to do some painting, possibly rip the carpets out (if the hardwood floors in the rest of the house are like the ones covered with the carpet)… once all that is done, we will start moving in, as we don’t have to be out of our apartment till Sept 30th. Once the house is empty, I will retake some of the pictures, then I will take pictures again once we finish some ‘work’ on the inside.

House Inspection – Check!

The house inspection went amazingly well, with the inspector rating the house a 9.5 on a 10 scale and saying that it was one of the cleanest houses that he’d seen in a while. So for all intents and purposes we are now home owners! We close on August 30th, but that may be negotiated up depending on the sellars.. they want to close earlier, but it won’t happen unless they cover some more costs.

Ok… after a whole bunch of drama over the weekend regarding the house, everything is a go as of this morning…. granted, we are doing the offical inspection this morning and it could shatter the deal depending on what the inspector finds. I’ll update after we have finished the inspection….

We went and saw ‘Mamma Mia’ last night, and I must say it lived up the the hype. We both thought that it was a great show… if you can get tickets, it’s worth checking out.

…and I would like to add that 1) our parents have taught us well on how to bargan for something we want (and thought all that grief we gave them for things we wanted growing up was for nothing!) and 2) the ONLY reason we have found is house is because we bought an awesome sofa to put into it…before we found it!!! This process so far has been fairly nerve-wracking but much easier with the help of our agent, Joe. I’m not “putting all the eggs in the basket” until after the inspection because I believe there are some items that could cause some re-negociation so we’ll see and let you know the result!

Ok, strange things are a foot at the circle K…

The seller came back and agreed to our closing dates and price, so barring anything major comes up in the inspection, we have a house!! (I re-posted the pictures…) We will keep you posted on events as they unfold!

Alrighty… house update time… Last night we went in and made an offer on the house, today the offer came back modified. At this point, we are going to ‘walk away’ from the deal… they just want too much money for too little of a house. So unless our agent tells us something we don’t know already, we are back to looking again
